Graduated in Medicine from the School of Medicine / Unifesp in 1970 and at the same institution attended residency in Pediatrics (1971-1973). Still, in 1973 he specialized in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Hospital Nacional Profesor Alejandro Posadas in Buenos Aires. He completed the master's degree in Pediatric Gastroenterology by the Brazilian Institute of Studies and Gastroenterology Research in 1977 and obtained two doctoral titles Paulista School of Medicine in the areas of Paediatrics and Gastroenterology, respectively in 1977 and 1979. Conducted postdoctoral research at North Shore University Hospital, based in New York and affiliated with Cornell University Medical College (1977-1979). In 1988 he became a professor of the discipline of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Department of Paediatrics, Unifesp. Since 1996 is editor in chief of Electronic Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Nutrition, and Liver Diseases, He is a member of the editorial board of the Revista Paulista of Paediatrics, the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Prof. Kari Syrjänen is the Chief Medical Director and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of BIOHIT Oyj (Helsinki, Finland). Before appointment to Biohit, he served 35 years in different academic positions, e.g. as Professor of Pathology, and Dean of the Medical Faculty (University of Eastern Finland). He is one of the pioneers in HPV research, with 890 published original papers, reviews and book chapters as well as 526 other scientific communications. He has coordinated 3 European Commission (EC)-funded international multi-center studies (a Nobel laureate among partners), supervised 25 doctoral thesis (domestic and abroad), and published 9 international textbooks. His research has received over 24.500 citations in the literature, with current Hirsch Index (HI) of 78 (i10 index 490). He has participated as an invited speaker in over 275 international congresses, and as organizing committee member in over 40 of those since 1981 (with 400-500 oral presentations). In 2013, KS was appointed as Editor-in-Chief, Acta Cytologica (Karger). Prof. Syrjänen is a Honorary Member of the American- (ASCPC), Italian- (ISCPC) and Hungarian (HSCPC) Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy. In 2006, he received EUROGIN Distinguished Service Award, and in 2010, the Maurice Goldblatt Award (from IAC). He is the first recipient of the IPVS Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Papillomavirus Society (2015).

Prof Michele Cicala, MD, has completed his PhD and postdoctoral studies at the age of 30 years from University Sapienza of Rome. He is responsible for the Unit of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy and head of the postgraduate course of University Campus Bio Medico of Rome, Italy. He has published more than 90 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute.

Dr. Ashktorab has completed his Ph.D at the age of 28 years from Utah University and postdoctoral studies from Indina University and University of Florida, School of Medicine. He is the director of Microarray lab, a member of Gastrointestical Research group. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of many Journal including DDS, GUT, PlosOne and others.

Ahmed Zaky, is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at the University of Alabama At Birmingham since January 2014. Dr. Zaky is highly trained; in addition to completing 2 residencies in Anesthesiology both at his home country, Egypt, and at the University of Miami, he has completed 3 fellowships in Multi-organ Transplant, Critical Care, and Cardiac Anesthesiology from the University of Miami, Johns Hopkins University and the Cleveland Clinic, respectively. Driven by a passion towards clinical research, Dr. Zaky has completed a Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Zaky has since been engaged in projects that focus on studying cardiac function in critical illness using innovative imaging techniques. Dr. Zaky, has published over 30 peer reviewed publications and numerour book chapters on the appraisial of cardiac dysfunction in critically ill patients. Dr. Zaky, is a funded investigator and co-investigaor on several grants that target interventions to early detect and treat cardiac dysfunction in animals and in humans exposed to toxic inhalants. He also has received the UAB Award for Faculty Academic Achievement in 2015 to study acute kidney injury post cardiopulmonary bypass. The strong clinical training, coupled with research experience and accomplishment make Dr. Zaky a suitable candidate for this talk.

After finishing medical school Dr. Kasparek began his clinical and academic career at the Department of Surgery at the University of Tuebingen / Germany in 2001. His research focused on postoperative ileus and fast track surgery as well as on quality of life in patients with colorectal cancer and chronic inflammatory bowel disease. From 2005 to 2007 he spent a two-years research fellowship at the Gastrointestinal Research Unit at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN, USA exploring alterations in neuromuscular innervation of the gastrointestinal tract in different diseases in animal models. Furthermore, he conducted several quality of life studies in rectal cancer patients during this time. After coming back to Germany in 2007 he continued his clinical and scientific work at the Department of Surgery at the University of Munich, Germany. With funding from the German government, he built up his own laboratory and research group and explored changes in neuromuscular innervation during postoperative ileus and aging in animal models. His clinical research focused again on quality of life and gastrointestinal function of patient with colorectal cancer, ostomy patients, and patients with inflammatory bowel disease. In 2015 Dr. Kasparek became the head of the Department of Surgery of the Klinik Josephinum in Munich, Germany and continues his scientific work in collaboration with the University of Munich.

His clinical research focused on quality of life and gastrointestinal function of patient with colorectal cancer, ostomy patients, and patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Alex has completed his MD (I) at the age of 31 years from Udine University after have obtained a CCT in General and Colorectal Surgery. He is now working as senior specialist registrar at the prestigious St Mark’s Hospital in the UK and he is aiming a new MD in Physiology and Neurostimulation at the Imperial College of London. He has published more than 20 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of repute.
